It all starts here...

This is my first post. Like I said before, I am 55 years old. About 7 years ago, I retired from the US Army. Serving in the military, I had an exciting career, with 14 years on active duty and 15 years as a reservist. I had the pleasure of moving through the enlisted ranks and then becoming a Warrant Officer.

On the civilian side, I had moved from job to job until I found my current position as the Director of Security for a state agency. This job I love as much as I loved the Army. However, like all good things. Eventually, it will come to an end. I know I will have to prepare to retire again within the next few years.

So, what to do next?

That is a question I have asked myself several times. I have always loved storytelling, from my early years in school doing theater to teaching in the military. The teaching job I had in the military required some non-traditional methods to teach the subject matter.

For me, the answer was simple. Why not learn to write. It seems simple enough. Put some words on paper (or at least in a word doc) and start telling a story. Well, I have learned that it isn’t that easy. Just because my brain thinks it has a story to tell doesn’t mean it is worth anything to anyone else or that it would interest anyone except me.

This brings me to the here and now. I don’t know the particulars of writing or publishing, but I want to learn. I want to learn what works and what doesn’t. If you are interested and want to know also, come along with me on this journey, and maybe, just maybe, we can learn something new together.

Subscribe to my blog and we can both make this journey.
